High

I woke up in a burned out town
I made some phone calls, friends gathered ‘round
I said I’m getting out of this place
You should have seen their swollen eyes
the look on my face

I nearly froze in Missouri
Down in Oklahoma came the rains to my eyes
Then the Texas panhandle started
Well them clouds departed in the cobalt blue
New Mexico sky

I got high -

Well I spent the night in Las Vegas
With a cocktail waitress, she took my for a drive
We rode the strip, the casinos
And I broke the Stardust and was gone before noon
Hey hey yeah -

Then I headed North towards Reno
Rode into glory, Lake Tahoe at night
Then I broke the mountains through Trucky
Where the Rose brothers were born
And I felt so lucky in the California light

I got high

High in the live long day
Gonna live the long day
High in a live long day . . .
